Our Practice

Maleny Medical Centre is the oldest established practice in Maleny, operating for over 40 years.  It has moved three times in its history to the current location next to the Star Discount Chemist.

The practice hosts Registrars who will become our family GP’s of the future.  We appreciate you taking the time to consult with them to make them better GP’s.  They are supervised by Dr. Scott Phipps who has been an accredited trainer for over 15 years.

The Maleny Medical Centre is an AGPAL accredited general practice having first achieved accreditation in 1999 and achieving status of one of the best practices in Australia in 2009.

Our Doctors

Scott Phipps MB BS; FACRRM; MHA; AGPAL Accreditor
Dr Phipps first came to Maleny in the late 70’s taking up the position of Superintendent of the Maleny Hospital and having his private practice adjacent to the hospital. His interests lie in general family medicine and aged care.

Dr Phipps is not currently accepting new patients, or consults with patients he last saw over 12 months prior.

Dr Peter Seha FRACGP, MBBS
Peter graduated medical school in Egypt in 2004 where his work was mostly related to emergency and general medicine. He moved to Australia in 2009. He has worked in various positions as GP/ED in NSW and QLD, at Wagga Wagga , Coffs Harbour, Townsville, and Caboolture. Peter has received an Advanced Clinical Certificate in Dermoscopy for Skin Cancer prevention and treatment. He is also particularly focused on health care needs for over 50’s.

Dr Seha is not currently accepting new patients or patients who haven’t been seen by him within the last 12 months.

Dr Kerlos Habib MBBS
Dr Kerlos  Habib completed his medical degree at Cairo University, Egypt in 2015 and brings more than 10 years of diverse clinical experience to his practice. During his early career, he developed a strong passion for women’s health, completing both a Diploma and a Master’s Degree in Obstetrics and Gynaecology.  He went on to work for 5 years in women’s health, gaining extensive hands-on experience in antenatal and postnatal care, reproductive health, family planning and the management of common gynaecological conditions.

Since relocating to Australia, Dr Kerlos has continued to providing patient-centered care and takes pride in creating a comfortable, supportive environment for patients of all ages. His special interests include all aspects of general practice, with particular focus on women’s health, preventative medicine, chronic disease management and patient education.

Dr Kerlos values continuity of care and enjoys forming long-term therapeutic relationships with individuals and families. He is dedicated to delivering evidence-based, compassionate healthcare and strives to empower patients to make informed decisions about their wellbeing.

Dr Nick Johns MBBS
Nick grew up on a wheat farm in country Victoria and graduated from James Cook University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Medicine/Surgery (MBBS). He spent 10 years working in Queensland hospitals in areas of emergency medicine, orthopaedics + trauma/reconstructive surgery, adult general/respiratory/endocrinology medicine with time in remote North Queensland. Dr Johns relocated to the Sunshine Coast in 2023 working in Radiation Oncology and as a Rural Generalist at the Maleny Hospital.  When not at work Nick enjoys spending time with his young family outdoors and can often be found at the beach, kite surfing, bike riding and camping.

Nick is involved in teaching medical students + junior doctors, has a number of academic medical publications and Masters degrees in Public health and Trauma management. He works as a sports physician with professional teams in the NRL/QRL. Dr Johns enjoys all areas of general practice with particular interest in acute + chronic musculoskeletal injuries and mobility optimisation, skin cancer management + surgical excisions, chronic disease management, men’s health, travel medicine and preventative health.

Our Osteopath

Tom McKee B App Sc (Clinical) IB Osteo Sc 
Tom has an interest in biomechanics, injury and performance management originating from playing many sports while growing up on the Sunshine Coast. He spent two years working as an Osteopath for rugby league and union clubs on the Gold Coast where he experienced the treatment of a diverse range of acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries and conditions.

Tom also enjoys treating a wide range of conditions such as neck and back pain, headaches and migraines, peripheral injuries, and joint pains.

Reminder System

As part of our services we have reminders for such things as diabetes, thyroid, prostate screenings, full health checks, immunisations, pap smears etc., please speak to your doctor on your next visit to arrange this. If you do not wish to take part, please also advise your doctor.

Complaints Process

Medicare Bulk Billed Services

Maleny Medical Centre is dedicated to providing you with the highest quality, cost effective medical care. Our general medical consults are bulk billed, however fees apply to procedures and osteopathic consults. Please ask reception for more information.

Vaccinations

Our practice provides vaccines under the National Immunisation Program for patients of all ages.  For more information about the National Immunisation Program and what vaccines are funded go to:

We can also administer other vaccinations not funded under this program (private fees may occur) for travel or other personal reasons.
